I started getting emails two summers ago from my very strange and estranged uncle and godfather, Marc (wiki: Marco Esquandolas), about the solar maximum—some sort of spin on global warming that he learned about from his colleagues—lawyers, doctors, professors—at CC. The sun, Marc warns, will be extra hot until 2013. Hence high numbers of dead fish in freshwater lakes.

What’s so great about mammals?

1) They’re smart.

2) Babies cook for a long time (and come out breathing).

3) Some of the longest-lived creatures on Earth are mammals.

4) Whales are mammals.

5) Unfortunately, penguins are not mammals; they are flightless birds.

6) Suckling of young.
